Mar was suddenly diagnosed with cancer of the bowel and 2 masses in the abdominal area. When she called Donna, her bowel was bleeding and her hemoglobin levels were low. In the past, whenever her hemoglobin dropped she would go to Emergency for a shot of Eprex to raise it. Here she was again, weak, fatigued and depressed. She did not want to wait for hours in Emergency or face pressure to have a blood transfusion, which she absolutely refused.
